A Desire Path for Kids

Sponsor a child, or give to the funds that stand behind them.

What is a desire path?

Desire Paths depart from the prescribed or expected route. They can often lead to unexpected discoveries and experiences.

Desire Paths are an inspiring reminder of how individuals, when united by a common purpose or vision, can create powerful and meaningful change.

Desire Paths reflect our innate human desire for freedom and self-expression, and our ability to shape the world around us in ways that meet our needs and aspirations. When we take the road less traveled, we are not only making a practical choice, but also a symbolic one: we are challenging the status quo, asserting our agency, and co-creating the world we want to see.

As a supporter of Desire Child Care Organization, you help our children take a path of their own and arrive at a future they had a hand in making. Sponsor a Desire Kid or give to the funds below.

Top priority right now

The Emergency Reserve

Our Emergency Reserve helps us bridge the gaps in everything from food emergencies, school fees and supplies, as well as healthcare and hygiene.

It is also our reserve for medical and other unforeseen emergencies, so that we no longer have to put out calls for urgent support when a crisis arrives.

Reserves and funds

Team Lwanga Sickle Cell Reserve

Sickle Cell hero Lwanga Sillaje is an inspiration to us all. Lwanga has Sickle Cell Disease, and we never know when an attack will come. This reserve is held for his care, so that when one comes, the help is already there.

He plans to attend nursing school, so he can help other children with Sickle Cell. Join Team Lwanga for as little as $3 a month.

Goloba Ibrahim, in whose memory the Amazzi clean water campaign was begun

The Goloba Amazzi Fund

Amazzi means water. In Goloba’s honor, $35 buys 200 liters, about 53 gallons, of clean drinking water. Enough to supply all 33 kids for a whole month.

Since this campaign began, we have eliminated all cases of typhoid in our family.

Birthdays, holidays, and above and beyond

Sponsorship covers a child’s everyday needs. This is for the days that ask for something more: a birthday, a holiday, a milestone, any occasion where a little extra would mean the world.

Give any amount, and tell us who it is for or what the occasion is.

Four acres of farmland

Land of our own, so that we can grow our own food, sustain the children, and sell produce as a means of income for the organization. About $11,000 buys a full acre. The four acres come to about $44,000, and about $6,000 more starts the farm with seed, supplies and equipment, for $50,000 in all. Any amount moves us closer to the land.

Payments are processed securely by Stripe. Recurring gifts and sponsorships can be cancelled at any time. Fee-covering amounts are an estimate of standard card processing costs.

Building the dream

The residential school

A Desire Child Care residential arts-based school, where our children and future Desire Kids can be raised joyfully in nature, in a loving family environment, learn important skills, and look to the future with confidence and hope.

Standing with Bugingo

Our founder and director, Bugingo “Desire” Moses, is at home recovering and getting regular specialist treatment as an outpatient, after severe malaria affected his kidneys and his blood pressure and led to a transient ischemic attack.

A GoFundMe is raising $5,000 for his hospital bills and treatment.

Give toward Bugingo’s care

Moreen is mending

Moreen had surgery for fibroadenoma breast tumors and is home now, recovering well.

Her medical bill is paid in full. This campaign is complete.

Thank you to all of Moreen’s heroes who made this happen.

Join our boards

Our International Advisory Board, with members from California, Ohio, Belgium, Spain, Uganda, and the UK, is open to anyone, anywhere in the world, and we are looking for dedicated supporters to take on three roles: Fundraising Campaign Coordinator, Sponsorship Coordinator, and Social Media Manager.

Our Board of Directors governs Desire Child Care Organization (DCCO) and is being formed now. As an Indigenous NGO, Desire must by Ugandan law be wholly controlled by Ugandan citizens, so every director is a Ugandan citizen. Both boards are volunteer positions and are unpaid.
